Southaven, MS- Readers of The Desoto Times Tribune have voted Northpoint Christian School the Best High School in Desoto County in the Desoto’s Best 2017 Awards. Based on the results on the online and paper polls, Northpoint Christian School ranks highest among very strong candidates for this honor. In fact, the two high schools finishing with fewer votes are considered two of the top public schools in the state of Mississippi.
On February 22, 2018, the paper released the results of the Best of Desoto. For weeks in December and January, The Desoto Times Tribune encouraged readers to vote in an online and paper poll. Readers could vote in as many categories as they liked, and write in their own responses in more than 200 categories that represent what matters most to our community.
While the high school is being recognized, Head of School, Jim Ferguson, says this honor is on behalf of our entire school. Ferguson addressed faculty after school to let them know of the award. During their meeting he said, “Our preschool is where the foundation starts at Northpoint. Many of our kids come in pre-k or Kindergarten and then stay all the way through high school. So it starts in preschool, and then goes up through strong elementary and middle school teachers before a student is passed off to high school. Ultimately, this honor is a tribute to the people on the front lines and that is our teachers.” He went on to say, “This is a huge pat on the back to our teachers that parents, students and families believe in what they are doing every day.”
