Cascio Named Head Football Coach

Northpoint Christian School has named Chris Cascio its new head varsity football coach. Cascio, 44, replaces Greg Wallace, who accepted the position of head football coach and athletic director at Bayou Academy earlier this semester. Cascio has been the defensive coordinator at Northpoint for the last four years. Previously, Cascio has coached at DeSoto Central, Olive Branch, St. Benedict, St. Joseph (Pine Bluff, AR), and Little Rock (AR) Catholic. He and his wife, Susan, have two children.

Cascio stated that his goal for the Northpoint program is “to make sure every player associated with our team will know and understand their worth to me, the coaches, their teammates, and themselves.”

In introducing Cascio as the head coach before the student body Wednesday morning, Vice-President Jim Ferguson said that it was Cascio’s passion that led to the committee’s choosing him from a pool of more than eighty candidates. “It was his passion for students, for Northpoint, for the mission.” He went on to say how important Cascio felt it was for the mission of the school to be carried out through its football program.

Cascio will continue to work with the football team in its off-season conditioning program and will guide the team through spring practice.
